A Guide to Oral Argument in International Moot Competitions

Welcome to Pace Law Library Podcasts. This time, we are presenting A Guide to Oral Argument in International Moot Competitions lecture by Adj. Prof. Christopher Kee, LL.B. BA. (Hons) (Deakin), Grad Dip Laws (UQ) that is intended for students, coaches, and professors involved in International Moot Competitions, with a particular emphasis on the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Jessup International Moot at Pace.

Christopher Kee is a Senior Researcher and Co-author of the Global Sales Law Project, Universitat Basel, and an Adjunct Professor at City University, Hong Kong. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales and specializes in international arbitration and international sales law. Christopher was a member of the ACICA (Australian Center for International Commercial Arbitration) Rules drafting committee, and is an immediate past Co-Chair of AFIA (Australasian Forum for International Arbitration). He has been a member of the APRAG (Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group) delegation to the UNCITRAL (UN Commission on International Trade Law) Rules Revision Working Group since 2007.

CIETAC Arbitration & the CISG

The Institute of International Commercial Law Pace Law School, the Pace Law Library, and the Arbitration Committee of the NY City Bar Association are proud to present CIETAC Arbitration and the CISG podcast, a round-table discussion moderated by Kathleen Scanlon, Esq. with Professor Kritzer and Adjunct Professor Shulman. The podcast provides information on the UN Convention for the International Sale of Goods ("CISG"), China's relationship with the CISG, the results of the Institute's study of over 300 CIETAC (China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission) arbitral awards on the CISG, and Prof. Shulman's paper, The Diligent will be Shown the Path to Heaven: China's Implementation of the UN Sales Convention, co-written with Lachmi Singh, to be published this winter in 48:2 Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.

On Law Librarianship in Afghanistan

On July 28 of 2009, the Foreign, Comparative and International Law Special Interest Section (FCIL-SIS) of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) presented a program at the annual conference in Washington D.C. titled The Past, Present, and Future of the Law Library and Librarianship in Afghanistan: The Challenges and Rewards of Building a Library After 30 Years of War. Mr. Ahmadullah Masoud (at that time from the Independent National Legal Training Center (INLTC) Law Library), Andrea Muto (USAID), and Blair Kaufmann (Professor of Law and Director of Lillian Goldman Law Library at Yale Law School) discussed the legal system of Afghanistan and the process of building a new law library after thirty years of war. The presentation explored the INLTC's role in increasing access to justice in Afghanistan as well as the practical and technical challenges the INLTC has faced. Unfortunately, we were unable to capture the presentation in its entirety; the first approximately 15 minutes of Blair Kaufmann's talk is not included.
